Weapons And Traffic Related Offences, Glenella

Police have charged a 30-year-old man with weapons and traffic related offences at Glenella this morning, 27 March.

At approximately 1.50am, officers were conducting targeted patrols of the Glenella area when a man allegedly attempted to flee from officers on a motorcycle.

Police pursued and arrested the man a short time later along Royal Boulevard.

Police conducted a search of the man and located a shortened firearm in the man's backpack.

The 30-year-old Paget man has been charged with one count each of unlawful possession of a weapon, obstruct police officer, possess weapon with altered identification marks, authority required to possess explosives (ammunition), driving unlicensed, driving unregistered, and driving uninsured.

He is due to appear before Mackay Magistrates Court on 27 April.

Investigations are ongoing.
