Weapons charges in Runaway Bay, QLD

Police have charged two men with weapons offences following an incident in Runaway Bay last night (November 20, 2016), Queensland Police say.

Just before 10pm police were called to a Salamau Drive address after reports of a disturbance.

It will be alleged two men armed with a baseball bat and a rifle, had attended an address and threatened a 35-year-old male resident.

The pair fled in a vehicle which was tracked by Polair.

Police attended an address on Marina Quays Boulevard in Hope Island where the two men were arrested without incident, allegedly in possession of firearms and other weapons.

Two 33-year-old men, one from Hope Island and the other Upper Coomera, have been charged with two counts each of unlawful possession of weapons.

They are due to appear in the Southport Magistrates Court on December 5.

No one was injured and it is believed the men were known to each other.
