Weapons charges in South Townsville, QLD

Police have charged two men with weapon offences following an incident in South Townsville on December 3, Queensland Police say.

It will be alleged just before 9pm a car drove along Morey Street and fired projectiles from "gel blaster" replica rifles at a group of people.

Officers intercepted a vehicle on Perkins Street a short time later and allegedly located two replica rifles in the car.

Following investigations into the incident police overnight charged two men, a 24-year-old Rangewood man and a 21-year-old Rasmussen man, with assault occasioning bodily harm and dangerous conduct with a weapon.

Both men are due to appear in Townsville Magistrates Court on December 20.
