Weapons Seized in Proactive Brisbane Patrols

Brisbane City Bike Squad officers have seized edged weapons and drugs during proactive patrols and Jack's Law wandings of the CBD's Safe Night Precinct.

At 5.45pm on 5 August, police intercepted a man allegedly riding an e-scooter without a helmet on Edward Street.

It will be alleged a subsequent wanding allegedly resulted in officers locating an edged weapon, meth, GHB, glass smoking pipes and fraudulent cards in the man's possession.

The 37-year-old Caboolture South man has been charged with two counts of possessing dangerous drugs, and one count each of possession of a knife in a public place, contravene requirement of police officer, possess utensils or pipes for use and possess tainted property.

He is expected to appear before Brisbane Magistrates Court on 20 August.

The man also received a $166 infringement notice for failure to wear approved helmet without exemption.

Shortly before 5pm on 4 August, a man was intercepted for allegedly riding an e-scooter without a helmet on Elizabeth Street.

A search of the man's bag is alleged to have located five uncapped needles and a flick knife.

The 33-year-old Woodridge man was charged with one count each of possession of a knife in a public place and fail to take reasonable car and precautions in respect of needle.

He is expected to appear before Brisbane Magistrates Court on 25 August.

Brisbane City police will continue to run proactive patrols to detect and deter the possession of edged weapons, non-compliant use of e-scooters and other personal mobility devices and target anti-social behaviour.
