A teenager was arrested overnight after police located a stolen vehicle at a home in Elizabeth Downs.
Police were patrolling Hamblynn Road just before 1am on Wednesday 20 May when they spotted a stolen Ford SUV parked in the driveway of a property. Checks confirmed the vehicle had been stolen during a break-in at a Port Noarlunga address on Friday 15 May.
Patrols cordoned off the premises and approached the vehicle as a teenage boy exited the front of the house and walked towards the car. The boy fled on foot but was quickly located by police hiding in a tree in the backyard.
A subsequent search of the Ford allegedly uncovered a sword and stolen number plates.
The 16-year-old boy from Salisbury North was arrested and charged with illegal use of a motor vehicle, unlawful possession and carrying an offensive weapon. He was granted bail to appear in the Elizabeth Youth Court on 3 July.
The stolen Ford was towed from the scene for forensic examination.
