So far this weekend showers have impacted the north with some localised heavy falls across the Top End and Queensland interior. Showers also peppered the east coast in onshore winds. While warm and dry northerly winds brought ideal harvesting conditions across the south. Out in the south-west, a cold front brought some gusty showers and storms.
Now it's this blocking high pressure system that's going to dominate the weather this week, roadblocking or preventing cold fronts from penetrating the south and driving unseasonably warm northerly winds across southern cropping zones. It's also going to direct moist onshore easterly winds across the east. So, for the remainder of today, showers for much of the east coast, and scattered showers and storms with possible heavy falls through the Queensland interior. Out in the west those gusty showers and storms will move eastwards with that trough.
On Monday, temperatures continue to climb across the south-east. While onshore winds push showers and storms onto the east coast and the interior, with moderate falls possible. Showers and storms move into South Australia, and a ridge building in the west will bring much more settled weather there.
On Tuesday, tropical moisture will extend down into the south-east bringing gusty winds, showers and storms, with possible heavy falls for south-eastern parts of South Australia and western Victoria. Onshore winds continue to bring showers and storms through eastern parts.
On Wednesday, showers and storms are possible for much of northern and eastern parts of the country, but particularly through the interior where severe thunderstorms may occur. Remaining warm in the south-east.
On Thursday, a trough will hook into tropical moisture with showers and storms for the east and the south.
And then by Friday, that trough moves eastwards, shifting the rain and the storm risk into the east.
That's it for this week, we'll see next time.
