Local families now have access to vital early years services closer to home, with the official opening of the new Weir Views Children's and Community Centre this week.
State Member for Melton Steve McGhie MP joined City of Melton Mayor Cr Lara Carli and Councillors on site in Weir Views to mark the opening of the modern, purpose-built facility.
The new Centre brings together a range of essential services under one roof, including kindergarten, Maternal and Child Health, and flexible community spaces designed to support local programs and activities.
The kindergarten program welcomed its first three- and four-year-old children in Term 1 this year, providing much-needed places for local families. Maternal and Child Health services are already supporting families from the earliest stages, while community spaces are being activated with a variety of programs and local initiatives planned.
An open day was held earlier this year for local community members to explore the new facility and find out about the services on offer.
The $18 million project was proudly delivered by Council, with $9 million in funding from the Victorian Government's Building Blocks Program and a further $1.5 million through the Growing Suburbs Fund.
