Since July 2025, all of Council's electricity needs have been met by renewable energy, representing a key milestone achievement in our commitment to sustainability.

Across the Campbelltown region, 166 sites, including public parks, leisure centres, libraries, sports ovals and community centres, are powered by 100 percent clean energy as a part of Council's renewable power agreement with ZEN Energy.

The shift to renewable energy means lower emissions across Council sites, helping to reduce our environmental impact and support a more sustainable future for our community.

"This agreement means that when the lights go on at the local oval, when families visit the pool, or when students study at the library, the energy behind it comes from clean, renewable sources," said Mayor of Campbelltown, Darcy Lound.

"Reaching 100% renewable electricity is a fantastic outcome and a proud milestone for Council. It is a clear sign of the progress and commitment we're making to build a sustainable future," said Cr Lound.

"The strength and flexibility of ZEN's partnership with Campbelltown City Council has enabled it to steadily increase its supply of clean electricity to public spaces and places and achieve its goal to become 100 per cent renewable in just a few years," said CEO of ZEN Energy, Anthony Garnaut.

In 2017, Council partnered with 17 councils through a Southern Sydney Regional Organisation of Councils (SSROC) initiative aimed at cutting carbon emissions, lowering energy costs, and boosting investment in renewable energy across NSW.

We now join 20 other councils in NSW in powering our communities with zero emissions electricity.
