Westbrook, Drayton parks focus of TRC's National Tree Day activities on September 4

Toowoomba Regional Council (TRC) is inviting residents to join National Tree Day activities at three Council parks at Westbrook and Drayton on Saturday, September 4, 2021 from 8-11am.

TRC Parks and Recreation Services portfolio leader Cr Tim McMahon, pictured, said public tree planting would be held at Westbrook Park, Centenary Park (Barwick Street, Westbrook) and Drayton's Mount Peel Bushland Park.

Cr McMahon said Council would plant more than 2500 native trees, shrubs and grasses at the three venues, with more trees to be planted across the Region this month.

"The species that will be planted are predominantly endemic to the areas that have been chosen. These include eucalypts, grevilleas, melaleucas, acacias, plus other native shrubs and grasses," Cr McMahon said.

"National Tree Day is part of an initiative to increase our Region's urban forest population.
