Western Sydney's New M12 Now Open

Dept of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Communications

A new 16-kilometre stretch of the M12 has opened to traffic, providing access into the new Western Sydney International (Nancy-Bird Walton) Airport.

The toll-free M12 Motorway connects Elizabeth Drive in the east to The Northern Road in the west.

The M12 will improve travel time and reliability for motorists and freight operators across the region and divert traffic from local roads.

Construction on the M12 began in 2022. This $2.1 billion project is co-funded by the Australian and New South Wales governments.

The final stage of the project is the M7/M12 interchange at Cecil Hills, which is being delivered by the NSW Government, and is on track to open in the middle of 2026.
