Wet Weather - Southern Region

Northern Territory Emergency Service are urging the public to be prepared for potential wet weather and a significant drop in temperature starting tomorrow.

The Bureau of Meteorology reports that over the weekend, wet weather is expected to bring 15-25mm of rain across the South/Central region. This includes the areas around Yuendumu, Jervois and Harts Range and the Tanami.

This weather will bring with it a significant drop in temperature with Friday expecting temperatures around 30 ̊C and Saturday dropping down to 16 ̊C.

Regional Manager Southern Command NT Emergency Service Ian Carlton said, "We would like to remind locals and new travellers in the area to drive to the conditions, especially on wet tracks, and to prepare themselves for a cold weekend. Dry creeks can rise quickly after it's rained and crossings can become dangerous. Remember, if it's flooded, forget it."
