Whalan Stabbing: Man Charged With Attempted Murder

A man will face court today charged with attempted murder following an alleged stabbing in Sydney's north west yesterday.

About 4.45pm (Wednesday 17 September 2025), emergency services were called to a home on Bidman Place, Whalan, following reports of a stabbing.

Officers attached to Mount Druitt Police Area Command attended and found a 73-year-old man with a stab wound to the chest.

He was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to hospital in a serious condition.

A crime scene was established, and Mount Druitt detectives commenced an investigation into the incident.

Following inquiries, a 39-year-old man – known to the 73-year-old – was arrested at the scene and taken to Mount Druitt Police Station.

He was charged with cause wounding/grievous bodily harm to person with intent to murder (DV), and wound person intend to cause grievous bodily harm (DV).

The 39-year-old was refused bail to appear before Mount Druitt Local Court today (Thursday 18 September 2025).
