What does Labor stand for? Issue 2 – union industrial action

It’s time for the Tasmanian Labor Party to stop hiding from the public and the media on key issues facing Tasmania.

Tasmanians are scratching their heads at why unions are disrupting essential services due to industrial action, when the Government has offered a six per cent payrise over three years.

We’ve seen Rebecca White and her Labor colleagues chanting union slogans at rallies, seemingly enjoying the fact that essential services will be disrupted by unnecessary union actions. Does this mean Labor and Rebecca White support Unions forcing surgeries to be cancelled and directing teachers not to complete school reports?

You either believe that these actions are unacceptable, or you don’t. Which is it for Labor?

Labor’s tired line about negotiating in good faith doesn’t cut it when there is a six per cent over three years payrise on the table for public servants.

For too long, Labor has been hiding whatever policy positions they do have from the public by simply going to ground and refusing to comment on important issues. We’ll continue to put the pressure on Labor to get off the fence and make clear what their positions are.

What does Labor stand for?

  1. Do they support the EOI process for sensible tourism proposals in National Parks, World Heritage Area and Reserves?
  2. Does Labor support industrial action impacting patients and children’s education?
