Deb Frecklington spent her day yesterday talking down Queensland's doctors and nurses but what she couldn't articulate was any alternative plan.
Health Minister Steven Miles said the Palaszczuk Government was building more hospitals and hiring more staff.
"The Palaszczuk Government has opened 888 additional hospital beds across the State over the four years to June this year.
"Over the next four years, the Palaszczuk Government's hospital infrastructure program will deliver a further 756 additional beds.
"Since coming to office, the Palaszczuk Government has been planning the new hospitals and expansion projects that will be required to meet future health needs.
"Including major hospital expansion projects at Logan, Caboolture and Ipswich, with an investment totalling $941 million.
"At the 2015 and 2017 elections the LNP promised no new or upgraded hospitals. In her budget reply this year Deb Frecklington didn't match a single health project. And didn't commit to any new ones.
"Then there's their record while in government. Between 2012 and 2015, the Newman LNP Government did not initiate any planning activities for major health infrastructure projects to address Queensland's future needs.
"Deb Frecklington was part of an LNP government that sacked 4400 Health staff, including 1800 nurses and midwives. How is that planning for the future?
"In contrast, since being elected in 2015 the Palaszczuk Government has hired 5,987 more nurses and midwives, 2,020 more doctors, 1760 more health professionals and 510 more paramedics.
"Deb Frecklington does not have a plan for health. So when Deb Frecklington talks about planning for the future, someone should ask her exactly what that plan is?
"Only Labor Governments deliver big, new hospital projects, and the Palaszczuk Government is continuing Labor's strong tradition."
