Bidding is now open on what could be the ultimate South Australian car accessory - the numeric number plate
Representing a unique piece of automotive heritage, the plates embody a rich historical connection to the original numeric plate series issued from 1906 to 1966.
A total of 22 plates are available, and can only be purchased through the online auction , which opened on 8 October and closes 19 October.
The au
ction features a variety of plate numbers, including 1308, 4335, 5022 and 6680.
Independent auctioneer Slattery Auctions & Valuations has been appointed to oversee the online auction and interested bidders can register, view plates and bid through the website. Revenue raised from the auction will help fund services for South Australians.
All numeric plates will be auctioned with class-specific rights, which means:
- they are the only special number plates that entitle the owner to rights to a specific number within that class of plate
- are allowed to be displayed on a South Australian registered vehicle
- can be transferred to another vehicle under the same owner's name
- can be transferred to another individual through a private sale or gift (fees apply).
While an interstate buyer can purchase the rights to the plate, it can only be affixed to a vehicle that is registered in South Australia. The buyer must be established in the South Australian Registration and Licencing database with a valid client number before they can collect the plate.
"We are thrilled to announce that bidding has officially opened for 22 exclusive and distinctive numeric number plates," Service SA Director Tess Foresto said.
"This is your chance to get your hands on a rare piece of South Australian automotive history, which was only issued between 1906 and 1966."
