When Upcycling Meets Creativity

Kempsey Shire Council

Mary is passionate about rescuing and repurposing the most beautiful preloved fabrics, giving them a second life as contemporary, wearable designs. She works with vintage tablecloths, embroidered linens, and thrifted textiles, carefully upcycling them into one-of-a-kind slow fashion garments that honour both craftsmanship and sustainability. And she brought this amazing skill to our Creative Upcycling Workshop delivered in partnership with Midwaste.

Of the wonderful 7 attendees two travelled from Port Macquarie and another from Macksville to attend this event. It was a lovely, creatively minded group.

The whole event was lively and fun – despite what you might think from the serious looks of concentration on their work.

Mary was a calm and patient instructor; the feedback was so positive and a few of them signed up to the upcoming embroidery workshop too.
