White House nominates Allvin to become Air Force vice chief of staff

Secretary of Defense Mark T. Esper announced Aug. 14, President Donald J. Trump has nominated Lt. Gen. David W. Allvin to be the next Air Force Vice Chief of Staff.

Allvin is currently serving on the Joint Staff as the director for strategy, plans and policy and as senior member of the United States Delegation to the United Nations Military Staff Committee at the Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia.

If confirmed, he will assume the role from Gen. Stephen W. "Seve" Wilson, the longest serving Air Force Vice Chief of Staff in Air Force history.
