Windsor Bridge Sandstone

The heritage sandstone blocks that have been removed from the original Windsor Bridge are being safely stored at Council's Depot on behalf of Roads and Maritime Services.

Council is currently storing 78 lineal metres of sandstone. Originally 88 metres of sandstone was delivered by Roads and Maritime Services, however 12 lineal metres of sandstone has now been reused at Thompson Square.

The arrangement to store the sandstone on behalf of Roads and Maritime Services was made to ensure that any sandstone removed was retained for reuse where possible. Should any sandstone not be ultimately reused during the current Roads and Maritime Services project, Council will seek to identify appropriate reuse of the sandstone for repair or renewal in the Thompson Square Precinct.
