Winner of Police Citizen’s Award announced, SA

Mr Malcolm Temby has been awarded The Lions Club of the City of Adelaide and South Australia Police (SAPOL) Citizen’s Award, according to SA Police.

Mr Temby received his award at a presentation ceremony today at Police Headquarters.

The Award is presented annually with the recipient selected from nominations made by police in Local Service Areas.

Nominations are based on reports, letters and Certificates of Appreciation which may have been presented to members of the public in recognition of assistance they have given to SAPOL during the past year.

A selection panel made up of SAPOL and Lion’s Club members reviews the nominations and then selects the recipient.

Mr Temby has volunteered with Sturt Blue Light for more than two years. A former teacher and school counsellor at Darlington Primary School, he is committed to helping young people succeed.

Before retiring from teaching, he assisted in launching a Living Skills program aimed at engaging ‘at risk’ youth and breaking down barriers between young people and police.

Mr Temby became a Blue Light Police Volunteer in order to continue his involvement with the Living Skills Programs where he has volunteered 267 hours and taken part in 10 programs and 10 Blue Light camps at different schools.

In his nomination he is acknowledged as a professional, non-judgemental individual who treats everyone with compassion and respect.

Congratulations Mr Temby!
