The inaugural 'Wrapped for Winter', community exhibition featuring handmade shawls and scarves has begun and Campaspe Libraries invite the public to come and view the incredible handmade items on display.

The exhibition features handmade shawls and scarves using yarn or textiles that have been produced by local craftspeople.

Campaspe Shire Mayor, Cr Rob Amos said the Campaspe Libraries have had an overwhelming response to the call for entries with over 100 items on display.

"It's great to see how many talented local people have produced and abundance beautiful entries in support of the library's first Wrapped for Winter Exhibition.

"This is a fantastic opportunity to pop into Echuca and Kyabram libraries to view the display and enter your vote in the People's Choice award. There is a wide variety of crocheted, knitted, felted and embellished garments and even two that were made out of tea bag strings!

"It's also very pleasing to note that over 80% of the entries are to be donated to Echuca Moama Community Projects Blanket and Coat Drive once the exhibition is finished," Cr Amos said.

Visitors are invited to vote for People's Choice awards, and there will be a prize awarded at both Echuca and Kyabram. Prizes include vouchers for Marys Wool Shop on Haverfield Street, Echuca.

A special collection afternoon will be held on Thursday 13 July at Echuca Library. Entry is free and open now until Sunday 18 June at the Echuca Library. Following this the exhibition will be on display at the Kyabram Library from 21 June until 8 July.
