Witness Appeal To Identify Man In Williamstown

Westgate Sexual Offences & Child Abuse Investigation Team detectives are appealing for public assistance to identify a man who filmed a naked child in Williamstown earlier this year.

Investigators have been told an unknown man was near The Esplanade and Victoria Street, in the vicinity of the Williamstown Beach public shower cubicles, about 3pm on Wednesday, 31 January.

It is understood the man held a phone under a shower cubicle divider, capturing footage of a naked five-year-old girl.

The mother of the child confronted the man before he fled the scene on foot towards Victoria Street.

Investigators have released CCTV and images of a man they believe can assist with their enquiries.

The man is perceived to be of Indian Sub-Continental appearance, approximately 30-years-old, with a medium build, black hair and olive skin.

He was wearing a black hooded jumper, grey tracksuit pants and slides.
