Wollondilly Shire Council has reopened the federally funded Dangerous Tree Removal Program to assist residents whose properties were impacted by the Green Wattle Creek bushfire.
Wollondilly Council received funding in June 2022 to assist affected residents to remove dangerous trees through the Australian Government's Black Summer Bushfire Recovery Grants Program. Council has re-opened the funding until 30 March 2023, with works to be completed by 30 June 2023.
The Program provides one-off financial assistance for residents to apply for up to $10,000 towards the removal of burnt trees which have been assessed as dangerous within fire impacted residential areas of Wollondilly, and now includes reimbursements for trees that have already been removed.
Residents should submit an Expression of Interest application, with funding assessed and awarded on a first registration basis.
The application will need to meet the eligibility requirements, including:
- The residential property is within the Wollondilly Shire
- The residential property was within the burn scar (burnt area) of 2019/20 Green Wattle Creek Fire
- Pending the Expression of Interest application meeting the above eligibility requirements, the trees on the residential property comply with Council's Tree Management Policy.
Residents who have already undertaken removal works for dangerous trees and wish to apply for reimbursement should submit a copy of the invoice and receipt, as well as Council's approval for the works to be conducted.
