Woman assaulted, man charged, NSW

One man has been charged and another man is on the run after a woman was assaulted in Broken Hill yesterday.

About 5pm (Wednesday 20 February 2019), two men, aged 23 and 27 allegedly forced their way into a home on Mica Street and confronted a 35-year-old woman.

Police will allege the men held the woman down and punched her in the face before removing property from the premises.

The men fled the home leaving the woman with facial injuries.

Emergency services were called, and the woman was taken to Broken Hill Base Hospital where she was treated.

About 9pm yesterday (Wednesday 20 February 2019), officers from Barrier Police District arrested a 27-year-old man outside a home on Chapple Street, Broken Hill.

He was taken to Broken Hill Police Station where he was charged with aggravated break and enter and commit serious indictable offence.

He was refused bail and will appear in Broken Hill Local Court today (Thursday 21 February 2019).

Inquiries into the whereabout of the second man continue.
