Woman charged after assault and car fire in Tumut

A woman has been charged after an alleged assault and car fire at Tumut this month, NSW Police say.

About 9.30pm on Sunday 12 February 2017, a Toyota Corolla parked outside a home on Lambie Street, was allegedly set on fire by a woman.

When a 39-year-old man, who was known to the woman, attempted to put the fire out she allegedly assaulted him.

Officers from Cootamundra Local Area Command were notified and commenced an investigation.

Following inquiries, about 8.50am today, a 26-year-old woman was arrested at a home on Anderson Place.

She was taken to Tumut Police Station and charged with damage property by fire, and common assault.

The woman was granted conditional bail to appear at Tumut Local Court on Monday 13 March 2017.
