Woman charged after bus passenger and police assaulted, NSW

A woman will appear in court today after allegedly assaulting a fellow bus passenger and police officers at Manly Vale last night, NSW Police say.

About 9.30pm (Monday 10 December 2018) a 23-year-old woman was sitting on a bus that was travelling from Wynyard towards the Northern Beaches.

When the bus stopped at Warringah Mall a 22-year-old woman boarded the bus and sat near the older woman.

As the 23-year-old woman sat listening to music, she was allegedly punched in the head by the younger woman in an unprovoked attack.

The injured woman reported it to the bus driver who stopped the vehicle and contacted police.

Police from the Northern Beaches Police Area Command arrived and located the woman who had left the bus nearby.

The Acting Sergeant spoke with the 22-year-old woman and attempted to arrest her.

The woman struggled with the female police officer and punched her twice, in the face.

Additional police arrived at the location and the woman was eventually arrested, although she continued to struggle.

The woman was conveyed to Manly Police Station where she was later charged with assault police officer in execution of duty causing actual bodily harm, resist officer in execution of duty (x 2) and common assault.

The woman was refused bail to appear at Manly Local Court today (Tuesday 11 December 2018).
