Woman charged after pursuit with 12-year-old in car in Parramatta

A disqualified driver travelling with a 12-year-old boy in the car will face court today following a pursuit in Sydney’s west overnight, NSW Police say.

About 12.30am (Saturday 6 January 2018), officers from Parramatta Traffic & Highway Patrol Command were conducting speed enforcement duties on the M4 at Mays Hill, when they detected a white Nissan Pulsar allegedly travelling at 131km/h in a signposted 90km/h zone.

Officers attempted to stop the Nissan, but the driver failed to stop and left the motorway at Church Street, Parramatta.

A pursuit was initiated when the driver allegedly disobeyed a red traffic signal and accelerated to 100km/h in a signposted 60km/h zone.

Police stopped the Nissan in Early Street and arrested a 25-year-old woman driving the car.

Also travelling in the vehicle was a 30-year-old woman and a 12-year-old boy.

Further inquiries revealed the driver had allegedly never held a driver’s licence.

A subsequent search of the car located cannabis, a knife and stolen credit cards.

The two women were taken to Parramatta Police Station and charged.

The 25-year-old driver was charged with police pursuit - not stop (‘Skye’s Law’), drive while disqualified and disobey red light.

She was refused bail to appear at Parramatta Local Court today (Saturday 6 January 2018).

A 30-year-old woman was charged with goods in custody and custody of knife in a public place.

She was granted conditional bail to appear at Parramatta Local Court on Wednesday 31 January 2018.

The 12-year-old child was conveyed to a relative and a child at risk notification will be made.

Investigations into the incident are continuing.
