Woman Charged for Albury Arson

A woman has been charged after allegedly deliberately lighting multiple fires in the state's south.

In August 2024, officers attached to Murray River Police District commenced an investigation after the front yard of a home in North Albury, was deliberately set alight.

As part of the inquiries, police will allege three other fires - one on Riverina Highway, cross of Kerr Road, lit on Tuesday 10 February 2026, and two other grass fires that were lit yesterday (Sunday 15 February 2026), on Gerogery Road near Hub Road - are linked.

Following further inquiries, about 9.40am yesterday, police arrested a 20-year-old woman at Albury Police Station.

She was charged with damage property by fire/explosion less than or equal to $2000 and four counts of intentionally cause fire and be reckless as to its spread.

The woman was refused bail to appear in Bail Division Court 5 today (Monday 16 February 2026).

Investigations are ongoing.
