Woman charged over police car arson

Police have charged a woman in relation to the alleged arson of a police car and the attempted arson of another in South Brisbane District overnight and this morning, Queensland Police say.

It will be alleged that around 5pm yesterday, a woman entered the Carina Police Station car park on the corner of Creek Road and Narracott Street and poured an accelerant on the ground near a marked police vehicle before fleeing on foot.

In a separate incident at around 6.30am, a marked police car was destroyed by fire outside the Coorparoo Police Station on Knowsley Street.

Around 12.30pm, a woman was taken into custody at a Dickinson Street address.

It will be further alleged that she assaulted officers once she was taken back to Dutton Park Police Station.

A 31-year-old Carina woman has been charged with two counts of serious assault police and one count each of vehicle arson, attempted vehicle arson and trespass.

She is due to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court tomorrow.
