Woman charged over robbery with violence at Southport, QLD

Police have charged a 38-year-old woman over the alleged violent robbery of another woman at Southport last night., Queensland Police say

It is alleged that a 23-year-old woman was walking over Sundale Bridge around 9.20pm, when she was approached by a woman who demanded her handbag and mobile phone.

The 23-year-old refused and was then allegedly punched in the face and kicked in the stomach, before her mobile phone and sunglasses were stolen.

The victim sustained minor facial swelling.

Police conducted patrols of the area and arrested a woman nearby.

A 38 year-old Tallebudgera woman has now been charged with one count of serious assault, two counts of common assault and one count of robbery.

She is scheduled to appear at the Southport Magistrates Court today, May 29.
