Woman dies following fatal crash near Griffith, NSW

A woman has died after the car she was travelling in crashed near Griffith early this morning, NSW Police say.

About 3.40am (13 October 2107), a Holden Commodore was travelling east along the Sturt Highway near Darlington Point, when the car veered from the roadway and collided with a tree impacting on the passenger side.

A 56-year-old woman travelling in the front passenger seat died at the scene.

The driver, a 50-year-old man, was taken to Griffith Base Hospital where he will undergo mandatory blood and urine testing. He was treated for a chest injury and remains in a stable condition.

A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.

Investigations are continuing.
