Woman dies in single-vehicle crash near Narrandera

A woman has died in a single-vehicle crash in the Riverina region today.

About 1.45pm (Sunday 27 December 2020), emergency services were called to the Newell Highway, about 15km south of Narrandera, following reports a vehicle had left the road and hit a tree.

Upon arrival, officers from Murrumbidgee Police District found the driver and passenger trapped.

They were both removed, before police commenced CPR on the passenger, a woman aged in her 50s, until the arrival of paramedics. She died at the scene.

The driver, a 17-year-old girl, was taken to Wagga Wagga Base Hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

The Newell Highway remains closed in both directions between the Sturt Highway and Kidman Way. Diversions are in place.
