Woman dies in two-vehicle crash at Yass

A woman has died following a two-vehicle crash in the state's south.

Emergency services were called to the Barton Highway, near Gunyan Road, Yass, following a two-vehicle crash about 6.10am (Thursday 13 October 2022).

The driver of a Kia – a woman aged 38, died at the scene.

The driver of a Toyota Hilux – a man aged 31 – was trapped before being freed by Fire and Rescue NSW. He was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedic before being airlifted to Canberra Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

Officers attached to The Hume Police District established a crime scene, which was examined by specialist forensic police.

The highway has since reopened to traffic.

An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash is underway.
