Woman dies in two-vehicle crash - Wetherill Park

A woman has died following a crash between a car and a truck in Sydney's south-west this morning.

Emergency services were called to Cowpasture Road North, Wetherill Park around 6.30am (Wednesday 30 August 2023), following reports a car and truck had crashed.

Officers attached to Fairfield City Police Area Command and Liverpool City Highway Patrol were told a 55-year-old woman was standing near a prime mover and trailer following a minor collision with a sedan.

The heavy vehicle has then allegedly moved forward, striking the woman.

She was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics; however, she died at the scene.

The driver of the truck – a 51-year-old man – was not injured and was taken to Liverpool Hospital for mandatory testing.

The driver of the sedan, a 17-year-old boy – who is a learner-driver – was not injured but was treated at the scene for shock. It's believed the woman was his supervising-driver.

A crime scene has been established which will be examined by specialist officers from the Crash Investigation Unit.

A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
