Woman faces court over multiple fraud offences, NSW

Police have charged a woman with multiple fraud and property offences following an investigation by police from Lake Macquarie Local Area Command, NSW Police say.

On Wednesday 19 October 2016, a 63 year old woman from Cardiff had her wallet stolen while performing volunteer duties at a Lake Macquarie netball complex.

Before the woman could cancel her credit card, more than $10,000 worth of purchases, were made from various locations in the Newcastle and Lake Macquarie areas.

Yesterday (24 October 2016), officers from the Lake Macquarie Target Action Group attended a home in Nooroo Close Windale, where they arrested a 25-year-old woman.

She was taken to Belmont Police Station and charged with fraud (x30), receiving stolen goods, possessing a prohibited drug and breach of bail.

She has been refused bail and will appear in Toronto Local Court tomorrow.
