Woman fined following rural fire in Nimbin

A woman has been fined following investigations into a fire near Nimbin yesterday, NSW Police say.

Emergency services were called to Arkinstall Road at Tuntable Creek about 11am (Tuesday 9 January 2018), following reports of a fire on a rural property.

Rural Fire Service members attended the scene and extinguished the blaze which occurred at three separate locations within the rural property.

A 46-year-old woman was located within the property by RFS, with police later interviewing her at Nimbin Police Station.

Police will allege the woman was walking through the property to get to Nimbin and discarded cigarettes without extinguishing them properly.

She was issued with a $660 infringement notice for discard cigarette on any land and a $2200 infringement notice for cause fire to the property of another.
