Just after 4.30pm today (Saturday 17 May 2025), emergency services were called to a unit on Morehead Street, Redfern, following reports of an alleged domestic violence assault.
Officers attached to South Sydney Police Area Command found a 47-year-old woman with head injuries inside the unit.
She was treated by NSW Ambulance critical care paramedics and a doctor before being taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in a critical condition.
Police arrested a 30-year-old male at the scene before he was taken to Mascot Police Station.
The man and woman are believed to be known to each other.
Police have established a crime scene and commenced an investigation into the incident.
