Woman Injured in St Leonards Shooting

About 9.30pm on Thursday 1 April, Launceston Police responded to a report of a shooting incident that occurred on St Leonards Road, St Leonards.

It is believed that the woman was driving a vehicle on St Leonards Road at approximately 9.25pm on Thursday evening when she pulled to the side of the road. At that time, an unknown person has approached the vehicle and a shot was discharged into the vehicle with a number of pellets striking the woman in the back.

The victim, a 30-year-old woman from Mayfield, was taken to the Launceston General Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. She is expected to undergo surgery later today and is currently in a stable condition.

The matter is being investigated by Launceston CIB who are appealing for assistance from the public.

Anyone who observed a gold Kia Cerato stopped on St Leonards Road at around 9.25pm, or anyone who may have any other information in relation to this matter, is urged to contact the Launceston CIB on 131444 or by calling Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
