Woman rescued from burning home at Ridgehaven

Police have rescued a woman from a burning home at Ridgehaven this evening.

About 6pm on Wednesday 4 October, police and fire crews were called to a Jordan Street home following reports of smoke billowing from the property.

Police arrived on scene and believed there was someone still inside the burning home. A quick acting solo police officer immediately forced entry to the property. After searching on his hands and knees through thick black smoke, he located an unconscious woman and dragged her out to safety.

A 53-year-old woman suffered smoke inhalation and burns and was taken to the Royal Adelaide Hospital for treatment.

The police officer was taken to hospital for assessment.

Police Fire Cause Investigators and Northern District CIB attended the scene to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
