Woman seriously injured after crash in state's north

A woman has been seriously injured following a two-car crash in the state's north yesterday.

About 7.20pm (Tuesday 14 December 2021), emergency services were called to South West Rocks Road, Kinchela, following reports a Toyota Landcruiser and a Haval SUV had collided.

The driver of the Toyota – a 22-year-old man – and his sole passenger, were uninjured.

The driver of the Haval – a 25-year-old woman – suffered fractures and injuries to her arm, leg, and pelvis, and was airlifted to John Hunter Hospital in a serious condition.

The man underwent mandatory testing at the scene and produced a negative result.

A crime scene was established by officers attached to Mid North Coast Police District which was examined by the Crash Investigation Unit.

Inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the crash continue.

As inquiries continue, police are appealing for witnesses – including drivers with dashcam footage – to call Kempsey Police Station or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
