Woman stabbed, teenager charged in Whalan

A teenager will face court next month after allegedly stabbing a woman in Whalan today, NSW Police say.

About 2.15am today, a 16-year-old girl approached a group of females outside a home on Toricelli Avenue, Whalan.

Police have been told an altercation ensued, during which a 16-year-old girl allegedly stabbed an 18-year-old woman in the chest with a piece of glass.

Officers from Mt Druitt Local Area Command were notified. Upon arrival, police found an 18-year-old woman with two stab wounds to her chest.

She was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics, before being taken to Blacktown Hospital in a stable condition.

The woman has since been transferred to Westmead Hospital, where it is anticipated she will undergo surgery.

A short time later, police arrested the 16-year-old girl on Radburn Avenue, Hebersham.

She was taken to Mt Druitt Police Station and charged with reckless wounding and affray.

The girl was granted strict conditional bail to appear at a Children’s Court on Monday 17 July 2017.
