Woman suffers critical burns when Blackheath home destroyed by fire

A woman has suffered critical burns when a Blackheath home was destroyed by fire today.

About 1.10am (Friday 25 October 2019), emergency services were called to Park Lane, Blackheath, and found a 77-year-old woman with significant burns to her body, and a 56-year-old man with burns to his hands.

The woman was taken by road ambulance to Concord Hospital where she remains in a stable condition.

The man was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Katoomba Hospital for treatment.

Officers attached to Blue Mountains Police Area Command established a crime scene which will be forensically examined once deemed safe.

The cause of the fire is yet to be determined.
