Woman suffers life-threatening injuries after stabbing in St Albans

Melton Crime Investigation Unit detectives have charged a man after two people were stabbed in St Albans overnight.

The 30-year-old Brookfield man has been charged with intentionally cause serious injury and recklessly cause serious injury.

The charges follow an incident in the gaming room of a McKechnie Street hotel where a man and woman were approached by a man and allegedly stabbed about 11.20pm.

The 25-year-old woman from St Albans was taken to hospital with suspected life-threatening injuries while the injured 28-year-old man from St Kilda, was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Responding police arrested the Brookfield man, who is believed known to the victims, in Una Street without incident.

He will be held over to appear before Melbourne Magistrates' Court today.
