Woman suffers serious leg injury after Double Bay crash

A woman has been taken to hospital after she was run over by a car in Sydney's east this morning.

Just after 9am (Wednesday 3 April 2019), officers from Eastern Suburbs Police Area Command responded to reports a woman had been hit by a car on Bay Street, Double Bay.

A nurse, who was passing by, rendered first aid until NSW Ambulance paramedics arrived.

The 77-year-old woman was taken to St Vincent's Hospital for treatment to a serious leg injury.

Specialist officers from the Crash Investigation Unit are on scene conducting inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Local police are being assisted by Traffic and Highway Patrol Command to manage localised traffic diversions. Motorists are urged to avoid the area.
