Woman threatened during carjacking in Wallsend

Police are appealing for information after a woman was carjacked in Wallsend overnight, NSW Police say.

About 7.45pm (Friday 31 August 2018), a 59-year-old woman went to her vehicle after attending a licensed premises which was parked in a carpark on Fogo Street, Wallsend.

An unknown woman has approached the driver’s side window and threatened her with a weapon before demanding she leave the vehicle.

The woman complied with the demand, and the armed woman drove off in the car with another man.

They were last seen heading eastbound on Kokera Street.

The car is described as being a grey 2012 Mazda 300 with NSW registration CGJ25Y.

The 59-year-old woman was not physically injured and notified police.

Officers from Newcastle City Police Area Command were alerted and commenced investigations.

The male driver is described as unshaven, approximately 183cm tall, with a slim build, and wearing a grey hoodie.

The female passenger is described as being aged in her late 20s, with brown hair in plats, of tanned complexion, with a slim build, wearing a black jumper, and dark coloured long pants.

As inquiries continue, anyone with information is urged to come forward.
