Women Empowerment Via Social Enterprise in Sughd

OSCE

From 13 to 18 April 2026, the Programme Office in Dushanbe (POiD) conducted six-day Social Entrepreneurship Training for 19 participants at the American Space in Khujand. The training provided essential skills and support to survivors of domestic violence and individuals at risk while strengthening participants' capacity to build sustainable livelihoods through entrepreneurship.

Women Resource Centre (WRC) ASTI and POiD's WRC project co-organized training that combined five days of intensive learning with a final day dedicated to pitching sessions, where participants presented their business ideas. The curriculum covered key areas such as foundations of social entrepreneurship, idea generation, business model development, financial literacy and access to resources, pricing strategies, and pitch preparation.

Following the pitching presentations, the POiD will provide participants with seed grant support to help launch and develop their business initiatives, ensuring that the knowledge gained translates into tangible economic opportunities.

The training achieved several important outcomes, including enhanced capacity in social entrepreneurship, improved business planning and development skills, and strengthened financial literacy and pitching readiness among participants.

Reflecting on her experience, participant Sitora Rakhmatova shared:

"Sometimes one step changes everything. This was not just training - it was belief in myself, support, and inspiration. At the training I realized that my dream is not just a dream, but a real goal that I can achieve."
