Bayside Council is seeking nominations for local women who contributed to the war effort during World War I and World War II to enhance Bayside's local history collection.
Nominations may include women who served in the armed forces, worked as nurses, volunteered on the home front, or made any other significant contributions that supported Australia's war effort.
These stories are vital reminders of the courage, resilience, and determination shown by women at a time when they faced immense challenges - stepping into new roles, supporting their communities, and shaping the social progress that followed.
The collected information will be preserved for research, educational programs, and museum exhibitions, allowing future generations to better understand the essential role women played and the legacy they left behind during these pivotal moments in history.
If you know a woman from the Bayside area who served during World War I or World War II, we invite you to share her name, photograph, memorabilia, and a brief story about her experiences.
To preserve their legacy and ensure these women are remembered, please fill out the Women in War Efforts webform.
