Woolworths set new standard in pandemic response

Carers Australia

Carers Australia congratulates Woolworths for accommodating the needs of people with disability and the elderly by introducing temporary early opening hours between 7 and 8am. The most vulnerable in our community will need extra help and consideration during the current pandemic, and this will be a step towards achieving that. We hope that these temporary arrangements will be extended as needed.

We encourage all other major supermarkets to follow Woolworths' lead and to make similar arrangements for these members of our community.

It is also important to remember that many older people and those with disability need to be accompanied by carers when doing their shopping. We trust that this will be taken into account by Woolworths and other supermarket chains when making these offers available, and that accompanying carers will also be admitted to stores so that all those targeted members of our community will benefit.
