The Minns Labor Government has begun construction on the $5 million redevelopment of the NSW Government's regional workplace in Nowra.
Intermain Pty Ltd, which was appointed by PDNSW as lead contractor to deliver the project, will
partner with up to 30 local subcontractors to support local jobs and businesses as work progresses
over coming months.
The new workplace hub will offer more than 1,800 square metres of office space to accommodate
staff from six government departments over two floors, with an additional third floor providing
capacity for future expansion to potentially welcome additional government agencies or private
sector tenants.
The redevelopment will provide modern workplace accommodation for the departments that occupy
the building including the Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure (DPHI), the
Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ), the Department of Customer Service (DCS), the
Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (DPIRD) and the Department of
Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW).
The redevelopment will have a strong emphasis on sustainability, with the upgraded building
targeting a 5.5 Star NABERS Energy rating, 4 Star NABERS Water rating, and a 4.0 Star Green Star
rating. It will also align with the latest NSW Government workplace design standards, ensuring
accessible, inclusive, and flexible workspaces catering to diverse range of user needs.
Member for South Coast Liza Butler said:
"The O'Keeffe Avenue property was first opened in the early 2000s and needs this upgrade to
ensure our local public servants can work in a high-quality collaborative setting to deliver their best
work and services for the residents of the South Coast.
"I'm very pleased to see local contractors will be engaged to support the delivery of this project. It's
a great opportunity to boost regional jobs and ensure the benefits of this investment are felt across
the community."
Minister for Lands and Property Steve Kamper said:
"The Minns Labor Government is focused on building better communities and investing in modern
workplaces like this as it will help retain and attract talented people while allowing them to live and
work in the areas they serve.
"This redevelopment will also enable other government agencies to access and use upgraded
facilities when visiting the region, providing them with a touchdown destination to undertake their
important work for the growing Shoalhaven region."
Minister for Illawarra and the South Coast Ryan Park said:
"It's great to see this project underway to ensure our regional public servants have access to a
modern workplace that will support them to deliver the best services and results for the people of
the South Coast.

region and this project will uplift their ability to deliver critical services for the region."
