A vital rural road in the Toowoomba Region is set for a significant upgrade thanks to joint funding from Toowoomba Regional Council and the Queensland Government's Transport Infrastructure Development Scheme (TIDS).
Work has begun on the upgrade of a 3.6-kilometre section of Haden-Crows Nest Road, to improve safety and resilience.
TRC Construction and Maintenance portfolio spokesperson Councillor Carol Taylor said the upgrade would take place between Swain Road to east of Bergen Road and was much needed on this important rural road.
"This upgrade will involve widening this section of the road as well as extending nine existing culverts to improve safety and resilience.
"The project is expected to take around 12 months to complete, weather permitting," Cr Taylor said.
Traffic management will be in place throughout the project and will include speed reductions, single-lane closures and traffic control. Work is expected to take place Monday-Friday from 6am until 6pm, with occasional weekend work as required.
"Council intends to maintain local access for all residents and will provide advance notice of any temporary disruptions. We apologise for the inconvenience and will endeavour to minimise disruption wherever possible."
