Swan Hill Rural City Council has recruited several new staff as part of the State Government's Working for Victoria initiative.
The $500 million Working for Victoria initiative is designed to support communities and contribute to the state's ability to respond to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic by helping jobseekers find work and employers find those workers.
The initiative matches people who have lost their jobs due to the economic impacts of the pandemic with local councils.
Chief Executive Officer, John McLinden said Council had funding to place 54 staff in various roles across the organisation.
"This is an exciting and worthwhile initiative and we are pleased to be getting involved.
"We have already placed over 30 staff into positions including outdoor workers, cleaners, administration support and community services staff.
"We still have a number of opportunities available for anyone interested in applying.
"Currently we are particularly interested in recruiting cleaners," he added.
Mr McLinden said the 54 jobs being provided at Council will be for six months until February 2021.
